Described by The Times as ‘the new Swampy’ (the activist who became a celebrity in the late 1990s for living up trees and in tunnels during his environmental protests), Kara Moses organises and leads protests.
The clip and article on the BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-36187019 highlights the most recent action by the group ‘Reclaim the Power’ which managed to shut down Wales’ largest opencast mine by camping next to the site. They did not trespass on the site because Moses has a suspended sentence from a previous action where she lay down on Heathrow’s north runway in a campaign against airport expansion and did not want to go to jail. She has also previously glued herself to the window of a PR company in protest against fracking.
This is a good example for Unit 1 pressure group methods.
